How to Connect a Custom HostGator Domain

Having a custom domain for your brand and business enhances your professional image, strengthens brand recognition, and establishes credibility with your audience. In this article, we will cover the full process of integrating your personal domain created with HostGator.

Step 1: Creating Your Own Domain (if you have already bought a domain you can proceed to the second step) 


1.1 Proceed to the HostGator website


Open your web browser and visit the HostGator website.



1.2 Create a new account or log in if you have an existing one


If you don't have a HostGator account, hover over the "Sign In" button at the top right corner and click on the "Portal" button.





Fill in the required details to log into your account - If you don't have a HostGator account, click the "Sign up" button.





1.3 Register your domain name


After clicking on the "Sign up" button you will get redirected to the  HostGator's plan page.

Chose a plan and proceed to the next step of account creation by clicking the "Buy now" button.





Choose the needed domain name and follow the on-screen instruction to finish up your registration.

 


1.4 Set up your domain


After successfully registering your domain and account, refer to HostGator's article on setting up a domain for detailed instructions.



Step 2: Set Up Your DNS Record
 

2.1 Locate the IP address associated with your Trible website


Proceed to your Sales channels platform page and open the "Custom domain" tab

Here, you will find the IP address that you should copy to use in the next steps




2.2 Set up your A record


Access your HostGator's cPanel.

In the Domains section of the cPanel, click "Zone Editor".





Under the Actions column, click on the "+A record" button.

Enter the details for your new A record:


  • Name: The hostname or prefix of the record, without the domain name.

  • Value: The IP address the record corresponds to. Enter the IP address that you got from your Trible account here.





Click on the "Add An A Record" button to save your record.

Most DNS changes take effect within an hour but could take up to 48 hours to update globally.



Note: Make sure there is only one A record for your chosen custom domain/subdomain. If you have multiple records (either A or AAAA), the custom domain process will not work.

Step 3: Contact Our Support Team


3.1 Share your domain name and email

Once you have completed Steps 1 and 2, reach out to our support team.
Share your domain name and the email address associated with your account on our service.
You can either email our support team at support@trible.com or use the designated support chat system provided on our website.


3.2 Wait for website publishing

Our support team will take care of the necessary steps to publish your website on your new custom domain.
Be patient as the propagation of DNS records can take some time.
It may take up to 4-24 hours for the changes to take effect.
